The interview answers seems to have fallen off the site, so here they are:Q: What do you like about the biking lifestyle?
We see so much more of our city and interact with one another in a much better fashion on the bike than in the car. We’ve discovered secret train tracks, stumbled upon outdoor music shows, not to mention not having to deal with the bother of searching and paying for parking. On the bike, the journey is an adventure and often just as fun as our destination.Q: How often does your family bike versus drive?
We tend to use the car once or twice a week these days, but it’s getting less and less. We recently got rid of our second car and I’ve found I can get just about anywhere by bike or bus or combination of the two.Q: What’s a good safety tip for biking with children?
As with any excursion, bring plenty of snacks. Hungry, grumpy passengers can be distracting (not to mention hungry and grumpy!). Look into local group rides of the “easy” variety to learn family-friendly routes around town. Here in Seattle, Kidical Mass, Cascade Bicycle Club, and Spokespeople have been great resources for me.
